My Favorite Albums in High School
Nirvana | Nevermind
Favorite songs- In Bloom, Breed, Lithium, Drain You, On A Plain
This is one of the best albums of all time, ever. I still love it so much and it's really hard for me to pick my favorite songs from this album because all of them are so amazing. When I first discovered Nirvana I was obsessed. I read every book that I managed to get my hands on about Kurt Cobain and the band as a whole. Finding Nirvana really influenced me musically and creatively and I know this album like the back of my hand.
Pixies | Doolittle
Favorite songs- Debaser, Here Comes Your Man, La La Love You, Hey, Gouge Away
Finding Nirvana led me to this band and it quickly became one of my all time favorites. "Doolittle" is truly an amazing album. "Hey" is one of my Top 5 favorite songs so that really says a lot. Just writing about this album gets me so excited- this album was incredibly influencing on me and I'll always, always, always love it.
Radiohead | In Rainbows
Favorite songs- Nude, All I Need, Reckoner, Jigsaw Falling Into Place
I was 15 when I first started really listening to Radiohead. Of course I knew "Creep" but it wasn't until I was hanging out with my cousin and his girlfriend at the time that I heard more of their music. I fell for it instantly and it's still just as amazing as it was when I first heard it 8 years ago.
The Doors | The Doors
Favorite songs- Soul Kitchen, The Crystal Ship, End of The Night, The End
This album and band in general was so monumental for me. It opened me up to a world of classic psychedelic rock that I listen to all the time now. Like Nirvana, I've read every book and biography on the band and Jim Morrison and have never, ever been sick of their music. This was the first album I heard of theirs, and although I love so many songs from all their albums, this one in particular is so special to me and has the ability to transport me into another world (as lame as that sounds)
The Beatles | Love
Favorite songs- Because, Eleanor Rigby/Julia, Something/Blue Jay Way, Strawberry Fields, A Day in the Life, A Fool on a Hill, Girl
This was a compilation album with all Beatles songs that were mashed up and remixed for the Cirque du Soleil show of the same name. It was given to me from my parents for Christmas in either 2007 or 2008 and that's when I really fell in love with The Beatles. I was in 7th/8th grade and they were all I listened to for months..maybe even an entire year. I'm pretty sure this was the first album that helped me find my own music that I love and listen to without anyone else's influence. After getting this album I quickly listened to all their others and literally love all of them. Overall, I think Sgt. Pepper is my favorite of theirs but it's really hard to choose. I'm pretty sure I know every song they've ever recorded and most of them word-for-word. I mean it's The Beatles...aren't they everyone's favorite?
